Our Core Services
1) Pestiferous Insect Monitoring
We design and deliver monitoring programmes for pestiferous flies and other nuisance insects in external and operational environments, particularly at sites where insect issues can lead to complaints, statutory nuisance concerns or operational risk.
Pestiferous fly monitoring and assessment
Regular or investigative monitoring of adult and larval flies at wastewater, waste-handling and other operational facilities to quantify activity levels, identify likely source areas and assess nuisance risk. Results are presented in a form that can be used by site managers, regulators and Environmental Health teams to support proportionate control measures and longer-term management.
Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) surveys and advice
Field surveys to locate and map OPM nests and signs of activity on affected sites, feeding into tree safety, public access and management planning. Where required, survey outputs can be used to support OPM management strategies and to coordinate with arboricultural contractors responsible for nest removal or other control operations.
Monitoring for other pestiferous insects
Development and delivery of monitoring approaches for other pestiferous insect taxa in forestry, agricultural and operational settings, helping clients to understand the scale and distribution of activity and to support proportionate, evidence-based management responses.
2) Specialist Invertebrate Surveys & Site Assessments
We undertake structured invertebrate surveys and assessments from early site appraisal through to detailed species-level reporting. Our work supports ecological appraisal, planning, management and monitoring requirements.
Scoping assessments
Desk based study and site walkover to evaluate the likelihood and character of invertebrate interest, identify key habitats and microhabitats, and determine whether further survey work is justified. Outputs provide clear, proportionate recommendations on survey scope and next steps.
Invertebrate site assessments
Targeted field surveys to document species composition and key assemblages. Results provide a robust, proportionate evidence base to inform management, mitigation measures or monitoring decisions.
Species specific surveys where particular taxa or priorities need to be addressed
Focused surveys for priority, notable or project relevant taxa, undertaken where regulatory, conservation or site based considerations require a more detailed understanding of the status of specific species or species groups.
Detailed identification and reporting, with particular expertise in Diptera (Brachycera)
Specimen preparation and laboratory identification to species level where feasible, supported by quality controlled reporting, curated species lists and professional interpretation. Diptera identification represents a core specialism, and we also work closely with trusted partners who provide expertise in other specialised taxonomic groups where required
Outputs are suitable for ecological appraisal, planning submissions, monitoring programmes and targeted management or conservation work.
